Washington, DC: Anthony Fung and Joshua Bogart, owners of Catapult Consultants, an IT Professional Services organization, have grown revenues from $121,000 in 2001 to a projected $3.4 million in calendar year 2007. Anthony Fung came to Washington’s SCORE’s office two years ago to seek help in growing his business from an initial very positive start. Hal Shelton, Washington’s SCORE Chapter Chair says, “Anthony had a clear vision of how he could make an impact on the local economy when he first came to us.” Hal adds, “SCORE counselor Fred Elam helped him do a great deal of research in a number of areas, and advised him on a growth strategy.
Anthony Fung says Fred Elam’s assistance was invaluable to the success of his business, and his attitude gave him confidence about his ability to succeed. “There were so many questions that I had at that point in out growth cycle, and Fred had the answers or knew where to find them.” Anthony adds, “He was so supportive and positive about what I was trying accomplish, it really helped ease the fears and anxiety I had about taking those next steps.”

Since first meeting with volunteer SCORE counselor Fred Elam in 2005, SCORE has provided advice to Catapult Consultants, LLC on a wide range of matters to include Business Development in the Federal Government Sector, Bid and Proposals, Corporate Cost Pools, Teaming Agreements and New Hire Employee Packets. Mr. Elam has acted as a member of Catapult’s Advisory Board as well as providing his support via phone and email when needed by Catapult’s management. He placed Catapult’s management staff in touch with other SCORE counselors when other needs arose. Catapult’s management and successful growth can be directly attributed to the support of SCORE volunteers who helped the organization by providing crucial best practices, lessons learned, and strategic information. Catapult has also utilized SCORE’s web resources including online workshops and template gallery to enhance the company’s infrastructure.
During the time that Catapult Consultants has been a SCORE client it has teamed with four firms as a subcontractor and has also won three contracts worth an estimated $5,000,000.00 dollars as a prime contractor.
As evidence of the growth and maturation of Catapult during its involvement with SCORE, Catapult has given back to the community by supporting various organizations such as the Association of the United States Army and Fairfax County Public Schools. Recently Catapult participated in a student mentoring program for aspiring entrepreneurs in Fairfax County.
